To Vote or Not To Vote

To Vote or Not To Vote: What Should a Christian Do?

Christians Voting:

Do we vote or do we not vote? That is the question. A hypothetical situation comes to mind that helps me answer the question, at least for myself. I will simply share it with all of you.

If we have a loved one that we are responsible for that becomes ill with a rare and deadly sickness and there are only two physicians in the world that will treat them. One is a humanist and one is a communist. One has a proven reputation of being incompetent and the other has no real moral values. This would not be an encouraging situation to say the least. So do we choose neither and trust and pray that God will do all the healing though supernatural ways, or do we pick a physician and trust that God can use that physician to bring healing?

I have no experience with anything like this story so I can not give any advice to anyone as to what someone should do. I can however say that our children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, husbands, and wives are infected with a very sick and diseased Nation. With two very flawed choices to help bring healing to this nation. Do we do nothing and pray that God will help this nation for our loved ones purely through supernatural ways, or do we pick a flawed leader and pray God will work through that leader to bring healing to this country? Only you can choose for yourself.

If we look at Biblical history, however, we find that God would always use men to bring forth his blessing upon Israel. God used Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt, he used Joshua to conquer Canaan, he used David to defeat Goliath. The book of Judges if full of men and women God raised up and worked through to bring answered prayers to a people and nation. All of these men and women were flawed and some with very egregious sins and character short comings. Yet God used them in great and wonderful ways.

God can see things in the heart of a man that we can only hope to understand, and we should be very careful to limit what God can do in a man's heart just because he is a sinner.

As for me, I think I will choose a physician that will not be against me and pray continually that God will use him to bless and bring the best to an unfortunate situation. This is our sick country and we should give her the same love and respect we would give our sick loved ones. May God lead you this election season with grace and mercy.
